Giant lips, tiny waist and “thick”, with the same fox eyes and snatched nose. I know it sounds odd, but I found it weird and slightly uncomfortable how so many Sims 4 players make the same sim. Honestly, part of the reason I stepped away from the Sims 4 was the community’s focus on looks. It was just creepy, joker faces all the time. In stark contrast, during the several weeks I played 4 I was unable to figure out a way to design a sim's face that wouldn't result in permagrin. Ultimately, I've not found over-exaggeration to be a problem when I've made lip curves stop at a more normal point. Which seems to suggest that the art design team assumed players would generally give male sims a more stoic face and gave them over-animated expressions to compensate, but also thought that players would use much more defined features for female sims and gave them neutral expressions thinking it wouldn't matter. Whereas female animations are more neutral and seem to rely more on lip curves, and other facial features to create an expression. Male sims in particular, once they've hit the teen stage, appear to have greatly exaggerated expressions, and if you've curved their upwards too much they'll even remain smiling when they're crying, such as when a sim just died. An upward curve that's too much can result in permagrin. I've only found over-exaggeration to be a problem when I've made a sim with lips that are too curved.
